First Club Performance!

Last night, I had my first club performance & I cannot express to you all how amazing of an experience it truly was. My dancers & I have worked so hard for this. I couldn't be more proud or grateful to be around such wonderfully talented people. I love them with all my heart & it couldn't have happened without their love & support.

The show started a little later then we had expected to but once we hit that stage, we were on fire! I could feel the love from the crowd, the energy from the dancers & my, what a rush it was! As soon as a video of the show is online or I can get my copy on one, I will post it here first thing! Thank you to everybody who came out to support last night! Your presence meant the world to me! I love you all with everything in my soul & I can't wait to see where we all go together next. This is only the beginning, lovers...only the beginning! :-)

The music video for "We Bring The Party" will be shot & directed by Ty Hunt! He's got a great vision for projects like this & I am super excited to have him on board. We are currently in talks about the budget & once we have that set, we move on to location hunting & setting the choreography. There's so much work involved, I just might explode!

I want to do this right. I want to make this something I'm proud of that will last for years to come. It'll be a lot of work but I'm more then ready to take that on! Expect lots of news & postings about positions we might need help with & extra's casting! Stay tuned kids, this will be a hot one!

Since the single released online, I haven't really been posting & I'm sorry for that! It's still surreal as it is that I've put something out again! Fret not though, angels & lovers - I haven't been sitting down on anything! I've been cracking away at the rest of the project!

Might be going back into the studio later this week to lay down the second A-side single for the full release!

Got a few DJ's working on a few remixes for the single as well, should be hot, should be banging!

Setting The Stage...

So I've got quite the schedule lined up for the next few weeks...I'm FINALLY getting back into the studio to record what is set to be my first single off the new EP. I'm meeting with the producer on Saturday to talk out the details.

The single is also in talks to be provided for the 4th installment of the Eating Out film series. IF things go well, the 2nd single will be provided for the 5th film in the series. Talk about pressure!

I am also currently lining up several gigs to debut the single in all it's glory. Dancers, costumes & everything esthetic will be involved. This is the part I'm most nervous yet excited for.

In between all of this, the video shoot...duh.

Also booking more studio time for mid May & early summer to continue working on the full EP.

Honestly, I'm a little terrified of it all happening so soon but what better time then the present, right? I said that I would make 2011 my bitch I intend to see that through. I'm going to make my own destiny kids so the world better watch out! You ain't ready for this! :-)

It follows Merida, the Scottish princess who would rather be an archer. Concept art pieces like the one above have just be released & I can't wait to see the final thing in 2012...now hurry it up!

My amazing friend Bob Kodis invited me out tonight to see him do some improv comedy at the SAK Comedy Lab, downtown Orlando. Boy, am I glad I went or what! On Wednesday night, it's $3.00 and on Tuesday night it's only $2.00! Are you kidding me?

I believe I've just found my brand new Tuesday night! Hit up some Sak's for $2.00, walk across the street to Jimmy John's for a $6.00 sub & then walk a block down to iBar where there's no cover & I've got the BEST Tuesday night in Orlando under $10! I'm so excited!

Tonight reminded me that sometimes, all I really have to do is just let go & let life happen. It was nice to laugh about something other then work or anything related to work at all. Tonight's laughter was pure & spiritual. I still can't believe it happened! All of the games, the cast, the lighting, the great cheesy music - made for an amazing night.

My only regret is being in Orlando for 3 years now, without discovering this gem of a place. I loved every moment of tonight and I can't wait to go back for more. :-)

The one goal I had for January was to have more courage. To be courageous in all that I do & to live freely through it. Now that February is here, I would say that I made the mark! Dorothy would be proud, if you ask me.

I took more chances, met new people, went to new places & found new ways to be happier in life. That's what it's all about, isn't it? This thing we call life...it's about exploration, right? Maybe it's not for everyone but I know that the only way I can be happy is if I keep learning. As long as there's something to learn, I'm a happy camper.

So here's to a new month! Here's to a new day to make it all worth it! This coming month for me isn't looking TOO bright yet but I'll make the best of it!

My best friend Max is leaving me for Tokyo to dance a contract until September. My new friend Phillip, who has directed a few movies & is working on one here in Orlando is leaving me to go back to L.A. to continue working. I'm getting cross-trained in FOLK (eww). I'm learning the day parade at Magic Kingdom (double eww). On top of it all, it's the month of love...blah blah blah blah blah! With all of these things going on I think PATIENCE will be my goal for February. Yup, I'm going to need plenty of it to see it through. :-)

Saturday is going to be a big day for me...my students from The Raskin Dance Studio are going to the first competition of the season. Why is it such a big day? Because for the first time, my piece will be competing with some of the best in the area. I am beyond nervous...

NYCDA is famous for Nick, Travis, Ida, Allison & the rest of the SYTYCD alumni group. It's been really serious the past few years & this year is sizing up to be even more so. These kids fight for these spots with all of their heart & it's always a great place to see dance come alive in the hearts of the young.

I just got home a few hours ago from our last rehearsal for my piece & I'll be honest, it was thrilling. I cried, I got chills, I was a proud father watching his son go on to something bigger. My kids have worked SO hard & they continue to push themselves in the best ways possible. I don't care if they win, I just want them to learn how to love dance & everything about it. The piece we did together is different from conventional competition fare & while that's nerve wrecking in it's own right, it's also exhilarating too.

Saturday night, I will be sitting in the crowd with some of my friends cheering for my kids like the proudest one in the room. NYCDA, you better be ready...my kids are coming & they're on fire!

For the past week I have been out every night, drunk & living it up! I've been telling people I'm just going to live every day as if I were the mess that is Ke$ha! :-p I know that may not be the best role model for most people but fuck have I been having fun!

I was never a big party guy growing up. Not in high school, not ever! So now here I am, in one of the best cities in the country where there is always something to do, somewhere to go & someone to meet! I'm young, I'm fun & I have the balls to not give a flying fuck about what anyone thinks of me! I might as well live it up now before I end up sitting at home every night bored & upset with my life saying "I hate it here. There's nothing for me here. I want to move somewhere else." I see people around here saying these things all the time! You know what I say to them?

BWAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Have you been everywhere here in Orlando, yet? Have you sought out all the great opportunities all around? Have you yet to meet & make friends with someone outside of your social work mecca? Call me crazy but this town's quite huge & I'm sure there's plenty more out there then you think!

I want to SEE those things, I want to feel them & I want to be a part of it! Recently I realized that through my year of healing (it's been a year since my father's death), I weighed myself down with the thoughts of all these people who just never ended up mattering to me. I lost all sense of self-confidence & I sort of gave up on myself without even noticing it. I didn't find myself attractive, successful or worth being around.

Now, I'm going to change that. I'm back, bitches & this time - I'm not messing around! You can either hop in my car & take a shot with me or get out of my way because I don't have time to sit around & mope anymore. My life, THIS life is too short for me to waste away feeling sorry for myself.

Now let's pop open that vodka, kids! It's time to live it up!

Time, What A Tricky Little F...

Sorry about my lack of posts this past week, friends. I've been super busy with work not letting me out until later (curse you FOLK!), trying to fulfill a ton of T-shirt orders, on top of choreographing for my studio's comp number & getting ready to take my trip home next week.

I was able to book two more photoshoots too, though! One with the amazing Brad Murphy & the other with the artistic & talented Vito Teruna. I can't wait to get these rolling! Expect updates & posts, soon!

I have 10 T-shirts to deliver today alone & a bunch more within the next few days! Things are really starting to take off & I haven't been so proud, in quite some time. I'm planning on making a nice donation before the end of the year so let me know if anyone out there still wants to be a part of this project! I love you all!

If I Rise...

Danny Boyle's latest masterpiece, 127 Hours is electrifying. From the moment it starts, it digs into you & never lets you go. Danny's visually unique style is in play here, all cards on the table. His quick edits fused with A.R. Rahman's pounding score make for the most charging film of 2010. I still can't get scenes from this movie out of my head. There were so many moments that had my body aching & moving around my in seat. I turned away, I looked back, I turned away, I looked back. It truly is that powerful & it deserves to be seen by all.

It's a gorgeous piece of work, to say the least. The landscape of Utah hasn't seen such respect in quite some time & you surrender to it's power. When Aron (James Franco, who is brilliant) is galavanting around, you are there with him every step of the way. The film becomes intimate through this. It becomes an adventure, an action film of sorts. That is, until the last act when the emotional weight of the character becomes real & the film becomes poetic & moving. You want him to survive, you want to see him live through this and therefore, you are that more invested when the ending unfolds. You cheer, you cry, you get that deep feeling within your stomach that really makes you feel at very least, alive.

127 Hours is not a sweeping romance, it's no political take on the state of the world today & certainly no 100 million dollar 3D blow em up. It's a tale of the human spirit. Not so much man versus nature as man amongst nature & our ability to compromise for survival. Aron's spirit in this film is real & it lifts you up to a place that only great films like this can. When you think you're ready for something, that you've seen it all, 127 Hours is already 5 steps ahead of you. You will see things that are tough to bare, you will hear things that pierce your soul & make your world cringe. You will forget that you have been in a black box of a movie theatre, your own cave of sorts for over an hour. Yet when it's all said & done, when those lights come up & the credits are rolling - you will know that above all else that you have seen a true piece of film.

Must-See Upcoming Films

Later today, I will finally be making a trip to my local theater to catch Danny Boyle's latest, "127 Hours". The film has been hailed as breathtaking, exhilarating & above all else, a powerful ride.

Danny Boyle was the man responsible for "Slumdog Millionaire" two oscar seasons ago. Which swept just about every award from every guild & telecast out there. This is an important film for the director, coming off of such a high. Think of it like his possible sophomore slump. He's made plenty of other films in the past, sure but none as highly regarded as Slumdog has been.

I'm expecting his quick cuts & editing skills to be at work here & I'm hoping for the time of my life watching this true story come to the big screen.

On another note, I woke up this morning to an email inviting me to the Orlando press screening for Black Swan! I'm a huge fan of Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler & it thrills me beyond belief to see his tackle a subject matter such as ballet. Now add Natalie Portman in what has already been claimed as the role of her life & you've got yourself a masterpiece.

This has been the one film on my radar all year. When I first saw that dreary, dark toned trailer - I knew this would be my film to see.

There are a lot of other films this year that are causing quite the stir amongst bloggers & award followers but to me, this is the one to watch out for. When I get home next Monday, you can expect a full review.

Flower, Gleam & Glow...Let Your Power Shine!

I've seen 'Tangled" twice now & I'm seriously considering going back for a third. There's something completely magical about this film that seems to have grabbed a hold of me & won't let go. Maybe it's the fact that I've been attached to this project for years now, going all the way back to when Clay Aiken was set to sing the voice of Flynn. Or maybe it's because for the first time in so long, Disney (sans Pixar) has done it right.

I enjoyed "The Princess & The Frog" for all it's modern undertaking but I could never wrap myself up in it's story or sound, finding myself saying "I wish it was more Disney-like". Here however, could've been a film that ended up TOO Disney or even worst, TOO Shrek. Yet, the folks at Burbank have found a way to make something completely original while not disrespecting the past of it's companies history. Rapunzel isn't just a modern-day character, she's a character that could've been around 10 to 20 years ago. She faces the same struggles of teen angst that plagued most of Disney's famous heroines. Flynn, though at first off-putting, ends up being a breath of fresh air. We've seen many thieves & rebel types in the mouse's vault (Aladdin, Jim Hawkins) but here is someone that genuinely has a change of heart & growth in characterization. All of his actions seem, organic so to speak.

Flynn & Rapunzel's chemistry seems spontaneous, warm & real. Their story is simple, but defined & straight forward. The laughs you'll find among these characters are rewarding & true, not forced or out of place. What about all that action Disney promised? It's there, wrapped up in an adventure that's seriously entertaining and let's be honest, isn't that how it should be?

"Tangled", name change aside (it's still Rapunzel in Europe! Really?) has become my new favorite Disney animated feature released within the last decade or so & it deserves to be seen in all it's glory by anyone who cherishes & adores the Disney name. You will laugh, cry, laugh, cry & have the time of your life, getting "Tangled".

The Wanted is a boyband from the UK, put together in the same vein as the Spice Girls & gosh are they pretty! lol On top of that, it's pure pop magic when these guys sing together. Some tracks are great, some tracks are amazing & some tracks take a second listen. Either way, it's a solid debut.

Now onto Nikki! What can I say about this bad, bad bitch that hasn't already been said! This has got to be one of the best debuts this year. Each track gets stronger & stronger for me & just doesn't want to let me go! I've had this one on repeat for a while now & it's still going strong! She just gets it, bottom line.

What I love about both these acts is that they know who they are & they're not going to lie to you about it. If you get a chance, check both of these out!

Disney Christmas Day Parade 2010!

Today was a very special day for me, I got to be a part of Disney's Christmas Day parade for the first time in my entire career here. I was fortunate enough to have been given the privilege to be a part of the DCR filming & let me say that I will never forget it!

We had an AMAZING cast of people & an AMAZING staff working with us. It was exhilarating to say the least & now comes the waiting. :-) Nobody knows how much of the footage they'll use of us but I do know that I'll have something to be proud of & show my family come Christmas morning & that, is the best gift I could have ever asked for. :-)

Hello, hello world! It's been way too long since I last blogged & I figured that it was time to get back to it. My last post was back in in early June, amidst the oil spill! My, how time seems to just fly by doesn't it? I've gone through quite a bit this year & I can't wait to share everything I go through from here on out, with all of you beautiful people. :-)

So here's to blogging once more for...I'll give myself three months. If I can make it through three more months, I'll be satisfied. :-D
